Over the past few weeks, my life has been consumed and overwhelmed with work in preparation for the KMMG (Kia Motors Manufacturing Georgia) Grand Opening and Family Day events. After putting in many work hours, the events finally came and went with much success.
I had the most influence and impact on our Family Day. We had close to 3,000 of our team members and their family members attend. For many in this area, it was the first time for them to see the inside of an automotive manufacturing plant. The day included self-guided walking tours through the Stamping, Weld and General Assembly shops. We also fed everyone in our canteen BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. Then the fun activities included a product display tent, caricature artists, face painters, balloon artists, taekwondo demonstrations, and family photography. The day concluded with a beautiful fireworks display behind the plant. Many team members commented that the fireworks show was just as good, if not better than their local communities 4th of July show.
Also more excitement was spread around the plant yesterday, as KMMG was to be featured on the History Channel last night on a show called Modern Marvels. Below is the link if anyone wants to check it out.
